Abstract
Bajakah   (Uncaria Nervosa Elmer) is one of the plants that is empirically used by the people of the interior ofKalimantan as a traditional medicine which is believed to be able to treat various degenerative diseases such asdiabetes,  cancer,  tumors,  and  others.  The  purpose  of  this  study  was  to  determine  secondary  metabolites,fractionation techniques and antibacterial activity of the root of bajakah (uncarianervosa elmer). The identificationof secondary metabolites was carried out qualitatively. Separation of compounds was carried out using VacuumLiquid Chromatography (KCV), Conventional Column Chromatography (KK) with N-hexane: ethyl acetate aseluent (1:1) and preparative Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and then identified the separation using ThinLayer  Chromatography  (TLC).  Antibacterial  activity  test  using  TLC  Bioautography  method.  The  secondarymetabolite test results  showed  that the  root of the  pirated  fruit contained  alkaloids,  saponins,  terpenoids,  andphenolic compounds. The result of sub fractionation B1 is a phenolic group compound. Antibacterial activity testshowed that the ethyl acetate fraction and sub-fraction B1 of bajakah root had antibacterial activity in the presenceof an inhibitory zone against Escerichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
